Mourning jewelry
What is mourning jewelry?
When we lose someone special, the pain is very deep and for the first time after the loss, the pain never seems to stop.
Mourning jewelry offers the opportunity to remember a loved one or pet in a very special way. Such a piece of jewelry filled with memories often provides grief support and helps people deal with the loss better.
Ash jewelry, hair jewelry, animal fur jewelry or even jewelry from other valuable memories can be worn permanently as a souvenir in everyday life.
How is mourning jewelry made?
Only dry memories can be used. It doesn't matter which memory you want to have in your piece of jewelry.
Among other things, I was allowed to incorporate feathers, mirrors, fabrics, grave earth, etc. as souvenirs.
What can be included in the mourning jewelry?
In addition to the umbilical cord, other memorabilia can be incorporated:
- Breast milk
- Pieces of placenta/umbilical cord
- Strand of the child's hair
- strand of fur from an animal
- Teeth
- Blossoms
- Ash
- Other reminder
Decorative extras can also be added:
- Gold leaf, silver leaf, rose gold leaf
- Different colors
- Color glitter
- Fonts, texts, graphics
How do I care for my mourning jewelry?
I recommend cleaning the jewelry occasionally with a soft cloth slightly dampened with soapy water. In this way, contamination is removed and tarnishing of the metals can be avoided or eliminated. Please never clean the jewelry with alcoholic cleaners or nail polish remover! Some pieces of jewelry are painted, which permanently damages this layer and also the casting resin.
The jewelry should be stored away from direct sunlight and heat, but please do not store it in a box or something similar completely in the dark, as in rare cases this can lead to dark yellowing!
Please do not store jewelry in the bathroom!
Contact with a lot of water and also salt water, sweat, chemical substances, strong heat and sunlight should be avoided. I therefore recommend taking off your jewelry when showering, bathing, swimming, exercising, sunbathing and before going to bed.
Rings should be removed before washing your hands and should not come into contact with cream or the like.
It is normal for sterling silver to tarnish over time. However, this tarnishing is accelerated by contact with, for example, perfume, salty air, sulfur, skin creams, hairspray and chlorine, as well as by the acidic pH values of the skin. Tarnishing is therefore not a manufacturing defect.
